The Bardo Thodol, or the Tibetan Book of The Dead, teaches how to accompany the dying person during the three intermediate stages of the death process, which precede the liberation of rebirth. While the conscience detaches from the body, the person experiences visions of a spiritual nature linked to karma, or rather to a set of acts subordinated to the law of cause and effect that mark the level of spiritual maturity of a person. The visions experienced can be compared to a cinematic sequence, in which the scenes are constructed by reflections of light, colors of varying intensity and particular sounds. It is important not to be too involved or subjugated by their appearance, which at times also takes on very disturbing shades. The non-attachment and the non-aversion characteristic of the dualism of human life, that is the concept of the Ego and everything external to it, help to achieve liberation from the cycle of rebirths marked by suffering. The visions are a fruit of the conscience beyond which there is nothing.
